The Wandering Endorphin: News

"one of the best idependent artists in the Midwest."
-The Editors - Billboard Magazine
"...interesting guitar work, I like his voice, it works!"
Richard Milne - 93XRT Chicago's Finest Rock
The best way to describe Destination Euphoria from The Wandering Endorphin (also known as Jim Green) is country-blues mixed in with a little folk. From haunting numbers like "Sing Again" to heartfelt and melodic love songs like "You've Changed," Green proves himself an abundantly gifted and capable musician.
The IL Entertainer
Jim Green, a.k.a. The Wandering Endorphin, is, as they say, a horse of a different color. Green's real genius, becomes apparent on the instrumental tracks. "Firefly" is an aural retelling of a late night, drunken bicycle ride through the forest that combines Greens' two-handed techniques with Tom Culver's melodic cello lines to great melodic effect. The Wandering Endorphin is making some of the most interesting and innovative acoustic music in Chicago and anyone wishing to experience something new done with the tried-and-true would do well to investigate Destination Euphoria as well as Greens' live shows.
The Wandering Endorphin is one Jim Green, who prostrates himself over his acoustic guitar with the same fervor some people reserve solely for chocolate cake. Green's fingers fairly fly through complicated arpeggios and well-constructed chords, his tone always clear and ringing. Tracks such as the furiously-paced "Stress" elicit the aural equivalent of wide-eyed, open-mouthed staring; it's almost impossible to hear all the sounds Green coaxes from his instrument. The intense talent required to actually make those sounds is impressive indeed.
The Wandering Endorphin "Destination Euphoria": Native Chicagoan James
Green, a.k.a. The Wandering Endorphin, attacks his acoustic and
electric guitars, not unlike Michael Hedges or even a little Keller Williams.
But even while his guitar clicks and screeches, the melodies that he
lays over — either with his vocals, dobro or violin — are very engaging
(as on "Firefly"). And for those of you who have forgotten their eighth
grade science: an endorphin is a small-chain peptide in the brain,
which gives you euphoria.
Steven J. Athanas - Toledo City Paper
The Wandering Endorphin is Jim Green and his acoustic guitar-a-thon. "Destination Euphoria" is a psychedelic, melodic, trip down the road of how everyone else sucks at playing the acoustic guitar. I think Jim Green makes love to his guitar at night, because their is no reason for someone to be that close to a piece of wood and strings and emit the amazing sounds he does out of it.
"Green's show was a musical and visual treat for the audience"
Eric Schelkoph - The Kane County Chronicle
"Green's percussive overhand attack often sounds like two guitars for the price of one - with a bongo and harmonica player for free."
Bruce Ingram - Pioneer Press
"If you think you've heard the way an acoustic guitar is to be played, think again. This sing/songwriter is like no other"
Jeff Berry - Rising Music
"Green continues his tradition of astounding the audience"

Rachel Yackley - The Daily Herald
